On June 13, Terry spoke at TED Democracy Philadelphia: Founding Futures, a day-long gathering at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts exploring the past, present, and future of democracy.
Terry’s talk brought his central argument to a wider audience: that elections alone cannot deliver real democracy, and that randomly selected citizen bodies—sortition—offer a more democratic path forward. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Terry’s work asks a timely question: what would it mean to build a government that is actually by and for the people?
